The Better-Me Project is a smattering of personal growth courses that you can do at your own pace and from the comfort of your own home. You can do one, some, or all of the courses as enrollment opens.

This self-paced personal growth project is for you if:

  • You want to make changes in your life but don't think you need professional counselling to get there.
  • You have already worked with a counsellor for foundational skills and want to continue your personal growth.
  • You are on a waitlist to see a counsellor.
  • A mental health professional suggested you should take this course.
  • You are currently working with a counsellor on the topics of self-esteem or family patterns.

Here is the course syllabus:

Module 1: Introduction to Core Beliefs

Our core beliefs drive us to believe certain things and behave in certain ways. Unfortunately, core beliefs tend to be unconscious. This means you are being informed by something old and possibly out-dated as you make your day-to-day decisions. In this module we introduce core beliefs: what they are and where they come from.

Module 2: How Core Beliefs Impact You

Core beliefs impact you in many, many ways. Learn about the Shut-Down Syndrome and how your earliest experiences directly influence the way you see they world. In this module we will also explore the link between core beliefs and guilt.

Module 3: Knowing and Changing Your Core Beliefs

Because core beliefs are old and unconscious, it is extremely difficult to articulate them with the rational mind.  In this module, we take you through a personalized, customized activity to help you uncover your own core beliefs and decide if there are any changes you would like to make.

Module 4: Self-Esteem and Core Beliefs

The way you relate to the world and the way you relate to yourself are profoundly linked. Learn about how your core beliefs have shaped your self-esteem, and how certain ways of seeing yourself and the world are more likely to lead to stress, overwhelm, and burnout.

You can move as quickly or as slowly as you like, and once you register, you have access to the course as long as we offer it.

There are many kinds of learners, and we have designed this course to be very user friendly for most people. The majority of the material is video content.

We strongly encourage you to try the written self-reflection work, as that is where the real transformation happens. Any writing you do in this course will be for your eyes one is checking your grammar and spelling!

In this course, as in life, you will get out what you put in. If you come to the lessons willing to learn and be open to new ideas, you will enjoy the experience more. 

If you prioritize this course, set a goal for a completion date, and then follow a plan for learning the material, that will help too. 

We encourage you to be "all-in" from the first lesson you engage in as this will accelerate your personal growth.

There are four main learning Modules of this course in addition to the "Before You Start" Module and the "Course Summary" Module in this course.

Each Module contains 2-3 Lessons which have a Teaching Video (3-10 minutes) and a suggestion for Real-Life Practice. Some Lessons also have a downloadable Worksheet that you can print out and fill in. We strongly urge you to take some time with these worksheets, as self-reflection through writing is where you will notice the most change.

Core beliefs form self-esteem, and most people don't take the time to articulate their core beliefs and where they came from.

Even for those who experience healthy self-esteem, this course will be very eye-opening and will help you catch yourself when old beliefs limit you. This course helps you to understand the psychology behind that critical inner voice and how to get back on track when you aren't feeling good about yourself.
