Support Groups

Have you ever been part of a support group? If you are looking for lasting change and a true community, our support groups are for you. Our groups allow for learning, sharing, and growth, in a warm and professionally facilitated environment. If you are an overwhelmed mother, a woman who lives with depression and anxiety, a member of the LGBTQ2+ community that is interested in meaningful connection, a family member of someone with addiction, or a man who is interested in personal growth, we have a group for you! Our groups are intimate and adhere to the highest standards of confidentiality. Most groups have a drop-in option. Scroll down to see which groups are currently running.

Why Would You Join a Group?

While individual counselling/coaching is the gold standard for transformational change, support groups offer something that 1:1 work cannot: connecting with others who get what you are going through. Many people on the path of self-discovery find that as they start changing, their circle of friends also starts to change. As we grow and our loved ones don't, loneliness and disappointment can really set in. Joining a support group helps you meet like-minded people who are on a similar journey of healing and growth. Groups keep us connected and accountable as we address life's challenges.

Groups work well for people who are willing to be real and have others support them through personal challenges and successes. You will benefit from a group if you are compassionate, non-judgemental, and ready for change. The people who join our groups are hoping to create meaningful community with others who are devoted to their own personal unfoldment.

What To Expect When You Join a Group

If one of our groups peaks your curiosity, you will can either reach out to the group facilitator for an initial consultation to answer any questions, or you can simply register on our online booking page. Choose "Online Support Groups", and then select the team member who runs the group. You will be asked for your full name, email address, and a contact phone number at registration. You may be required to fill out a waiver form before attending a group.

You will receive the link to your online group room a day or two before your session. Your facilitator will be in touch with you with any suggestions, materials, or requirements before your group begins. If you are interested in a drop-in group, you will register each time you attend. Payment is taken once you attend a session, so be sure to add your credit card information at registration if you will be attending our groups regularly.

On the day of your group, please arrive at your virtual room or in-person location a few minutes early, as facilitators will be starting promptly at the time listed. Depending on the group you have selected, you may want to bring a journal and a pen, as well as some water to drink. If you are in an online group, ensure you are in a private space, and if there are other people around you, we require you to wear headphones in order to protect the privacy of other group members.

Confidentiality is a critical requirement in our groups. Your facilitator will explain more about confidentiality and the limits to confidentiality during your session.

If you have any questions or feel uncomfortable about any aspect of the group you are attending, please let the facilitator know. Groups can bring up a lot of unconscious or unhealed material from our past, and they are a place to repair your negative narratives about yourself and the world. Your facilitator will guide you in ensuring you are getting the maximum benefit from your participation in the group, but you will also have to do your part.

Fees for groups range between $20-$40 per session, but we will not turn anyone away. Contact us to make the necessary arrangements, if required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Joining a group for the first time may feel a bit uncomfortable, especially if you have never done something like this before. Here are some questions we are often asked by people new to group work.

Absolutely! Doing this work with people you love can be liberating, and we have found that relationships deepen and strengthen when people attend a group together.

Confidentiality is the cornerstone of group work. People must know their stories will not be shared, and they won't be talked about in some other context. Our facilitators require an oath of confidentiality, either written or verbal, each time you attend a group session. While the facilitator cannot foresee or guarantee the actions of others, we do our best to ensure everyone in the group understands the value of privacy, anonymity, and confidentiality during group sessions.

There are certain situations where, due to legal considerations, confidentiality will be waived. Your facilitator will discuss this with the group when you attend

In groups, as in life, you will get out what you put in. If you come to the group sessions willing to learn and open to new ideas, you will enjoy the experience more than if you come with an agenda. Some people like to talk in groups and others don't, and you can always choose to pass. Since our groups are virtual, you can still participate through the chat even if you don't want to speak out loud. All of our groups (except Life Support) require a camera on to be able to get the feeling that we are all in a room together. We encourage you to be "all-in" from the first group session you attend, as this will accelerate your personal growth and your connection to others in the group.

Over the last few years our groups have been online, but there is a growing community of group members at our physical location in Salmon Arm, B.C. Keep an eye out for groups and workshops coming soon for those local to the area!
